Fat Cat Catfisher Fishing Rod and Reel with 2 Catnip LuresReviewsThis is the best cat toy we have ever purchased. WE bought it about 5 months ago and cats still love it and it is holding up great to two very active cats. Best thing about it is that you can fish from the sofa for hours and keep them happy! Do not hesitate to buy this toy :-) My cat loved this toy before I threw it away. I tossed it because the fishing line got caught around her leg and she freaked out. She ran under the sofa and I was afraid to reel in the line because too much tension on it might dig it into her skin. She bit the line and cut it off, thankfully, but I no longer trust this toy. I don't think this should even be marketed for cats. My cats LOVE this toy. But in the span of 2 days, I had to return 3 of them because they kept breaking. This product is a total piece of junk. But there is hope! Solution: Buy a child's fishing reel - those plastic ones with characters on them (maybe 10 bucks, max) and the replacement Catfisher Lures, or any sort of catnip mouse. Attach catnip mouse to child's fishing reel, and enjoy. Our Finding Nemo children's reel has lasted over a year, and we have to hide it when we aren't playing! I only spent $10 on this at my local Pet Expo, and it wasn't even worth that. My cats got to play with it for about 10 minutes, then the line tangled up, snapped, and now I can't get it back together. Definitely not worth more than maybe $3.00. The saddest part is that your animal will LOVE it, and then sit next to you on the couch watching you try to fix it for 2 hours. Do NOT buy this product, get a children's pole instead and just tie a toy to the end. My Cat loves this toy, I mean LOVE... she loves to play all night. But I am on my second one, the first one broke and boy she was so tiffed the rest of the night after it broke, the next morning I went to the store to return it and get a new one. Nice invention, but could be more well built. It tangles and gets stuck or caught and then you have to take it apart and good luck getting it working again. I am on my 2nd one, thought I had to take it back. I may try that barbie fishing rod idea, for the price you pay, this is ridiculous to replace all the time... Average Rating:![]() |

River's Edge Fishing Reel Toilet Paper HolderReviewsMy dad is very difficult to shop for and he recently has taken up fishing. I found this and decided to get it for him. He loved it and immediately installed it in his fisherman-themed bathroom! I got this as a Christmas present for my brother, who is a professional amateur fisherman and it was perfect! The construction is nice and the reel truly makes that clicking noise that all fisherman love to hear. It was shipped quickly. I couldn't have been happier with my purchase. This toilet paper holder is so darn cute and goes well with my outdoor theme. Shipping was very fast. Average Rating:![]() |

Reel LifeReviewsI heard the guys at Jazzfest (New Orleans) and met them shortly after, and then HAD to go see them at Tipitina's a few months later. They are sly, funny, and musically talented in a wide range of styles. They do stuff for grownups, stuff for kids, stuff for grownups AND kids -- well, you get the idea. Tipitina's is a famous old N.O. bar and music venue - they played "Baby's Got the Car Keys" there and the place rocked! This album is more adult-oriented in theme, but you can let your kids hear it for the beautiful music. And you can listen to "Family Music Party" without kids around, as I do -- no Barney-esque saccharine in there to make an adult gag. PS - Passed through Shreveport, LA last month around lunch time - went to Murrell's just because I'd heard the song and didn't want fast-food. It deserved having this song written about it! This CD is a nice mix of older music & new releases from Trout Fishing in America. My favorite cuts are The Last Day of Pompeii, Baby's Got the Car Keys and The Number of that Truck. Trout is incredible in concert -- so much music for 2 guys -- but on this CD I wish they had skipped the speaking portions of the live performance (really a minor criticism). This is another solid performance from Trout Fishing in America. Average Rating:![]() |

SOG Specialty Knives and Tools FF-21 Fusion Fish on Knife, SatinReviewsI bought this knife as a joke for my brother who loves fishing. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it to see just how high-quality it is. I've owned many SOG products before, but I figured that a made in China knife for twenty-something bucks would be pretty cruddy, but I was wrong. It's a lot of knife for the money. Ok, first off, this is not a great "fishing knife", except that with a sheep's foot blade you are less likely to poke yourself in the boat as it's bobbing around. And the blade being a high grade of stainless steel won't rust. What is a great fishing knife? Well to judge what's in my tacklebox, I'd have to say there are two, a good fillet knife Rapala6 Fish'n Fillet / Single Stage Sharpener / Sheath or Wusthof Classic Ikon 7-Inch Fillet With Sheath, Black and a multiplier like the SOG Specialty Knives & Tools S60-N PowerLock (get the one with scissors, and a "V" cutter, you may have to remove one of the blades like the saw.) Now why do I still like this SOG knife? Well first it's very sharp. The blade will hold an edge. The locking mechanism is classic lock back which is easy to release when you want it and holds the blade firmly. The pocket clip is shaped like a fish, and when you open it a small handle is geared into a wheel which hits a "clicker" that makes that fish stripping line from a reel noise. The handles are molded plastic and have images of fishing things in them, like a hook. And the color is very similar to some of my salmon lures. So buy this knife for the fisherman in your family who wants to carry a knife the rest of the time and let people know that he'd rather be out fishing than fixing that broken thing under the sink. He probably already has that fillet knife and the multi plier, but if not, get those first. So the four stars instead of five is because this is a gimmick knife. Four stars because it's a great execution though of a basic knife with a fishing theme. Average Rating:![]() |

Wii Fishing Rod with ReelReviewsI bought this fishing rod from some company and after the first use the reel part came off and the second use the whole fishing rod fell apart. I didn't even send it back because I would have lost my shipping money and it would have cost me to ship it so I would have spent more money so I threw it away after only two uses. Would not recommend it. Had issues with the first rod that was sent out, broke in 24 hours. The replacement that was sent at no charge was and is great the first must have been defective. Great game and fishing rod my husband loves it. I got this rod to go with the fishing game I just bought for the wii. I was so worried because of the other reviews posted that it was going to break in 10 minutes of use. They were wrong. This rod is made of sturdy plastic and the reel on the side is attached very well to the rod. There is no way it can break unless you aren't efficient at using plastic. Most of the reviews said that a child was using it. I am 20 and my family are all over the age of 18. It is incredibly easy to use. The only complaint I would have about the product is it is left handed and not right handed. Though it is still very easy to use with your left. To be able to break this product you would have to be reeling incorrectly which I found very easy to do if you tried to reel too fast. Which is too fast for even the game to catch. This is done by moving the reel back and forth instead of moving the reel naturally around in a circle. If the rod broke then they really had to be doing something wrong because you wouldn't even touch that part in the game. I ope this review is helpful because I believe this rod was highly underestimated. I find the fishing pole more of a pain than its worth. I think just using the Wii remote is better. It seemed cheaply made and when trying to reel fish in very jerky motion. Couldn't use. Average Rating:![]() |

Fishing Master World TourReviewsI'd say this is an overall good game. My 5 year old got the hang of it VERY quick. He was catching fish right off the bat. Had to figure out what bait would work in certain areas but once we figured that out, he knew what to use when he went back. Graphics are pretty good as well. The viewpoint is NOT under the water like most fishing games, rather you can kinda see fish swimming under the water so you cast to the area where they are at. Downfall is that once you catch a certain fish a couple times, you pretty much know what you have on the line before you land it, just by the way it fights. I have not had this much fun with a video game since I was a kid back in the space invaders days !!! Both me and my 7 and 9 year old boys love this game and we have played for hours on end...the controls are very life like with the Wii controlers...once you start opening up several different fishing areas it starts to get really exciting too. I recommend doing some online research and looking for a FAQ site for this game that gives you some clues about what baits to use during which season so that you can catch some of the really rare fish and to open up other new spots. The graphics on this are very well done. My kids already love to do "real fishing" so this now gives them a great winter activity to keep their love of fishing going strong. Buy this game for hours of family fun and after the kids go to bed maybe Dad can get some serious fishing done too. Great game. I have to admit, I was (and still very much am) SERIOUSLY addicted to the original version of this game. It's one of the few video games I have ever finished and replayed. In fact, I didn't know there was even a sequel until a few weeks ago, and I couldn't understand why this game was discontinued, especially since Fishing Master (the original) was so much fun. But today I finally got the game, after weeks of hunting it down and paying a higher-than-retail price for it, and I understand why it's no longer being sold. "Fishing Master: World Tour" is **such** a disappointment. Usually sequels to games are *better* but they totally messed this one up. For those familiar with Fishing Master, "World Tour" is very similar to the original, but with crucial elements of gameplay missing. First, and foremost, they've changed the method for casting. It sounds like a simple thing, but if you have played hours of the original Fishing Master, the new two-step casting will totally throw you off. Now you have to pull back, wait for the game to give you the on-screen signal to cast, and then throw your line. However, DON'T hold the B button because it resets EVERYTHING. Also, in the original Fishing Master, if you had a good cast, you could do quite well with EVERY fishing pole in the game, including the starter rod. Now you can only cast out according to the rod you are using, NOT by the quality of your physical cast. So if you are stuck with the start rod, you can't cast out far at all. So don't break your wrist trying to cast far, because it won't work. Second thing they removed- the vibrations in the Wii remote as you are reeling in the fish. Now the Wiimote only vibrates after you pull the fish in. I never realized how much the vibrations added to the gameplay (signaling if you were reeling in too fast, too slow, or needed to jerk the line right or left). Another thing- the game is MUCH easier than the original. For some people, this will be a good thing. But for me, I liked it when the "line tension" graph actually meant your line would BREAK if you didn't stop reeling in. Now you can keep reeling in despite the line tension and still catch the fish. There's no challenge at all. And the line length graph is not accurate at all. Finally- the graphics are actually *worse* than the original. I just don't get it. Yes, the original "Fishing Master" had very cartoony graphics, but the text was easy to read and the fish shadows were easy to spot and aim for. Now everything is a little more stylized, and much smaller, so game-associated graphics (fish shadows, positioning, etc) has been sacrificed for a more slick look on the total game. I know many people love this game, and on its own, it's fun and addictive. But if you are a die-hard "Fishing Master" fan, I think you'd be better served replaying the original rather than playing the sequel. Bottom line- if it becomes easily available at a decent price, pick it up. But don't waste your time and money tracking down an expensive copy. It's just not worth it. very interesting game. have to apply skills in selecting baits according to seasons,Area, and water types. If you're looking for a realistic fishing game this isn't it. I think this game was geared more towards children. I read the other reviews and I was expecting that it would be a lot of fun, but it missed the mark for me. Pros: - Unlike some of the other fishing games you can fish around the world, and catch different species of fish around the world - The "Line Break" and "Hook Off" is very well balanced, my biggest complaint for my favorite fishing game is how easy it is to break the line, this game it is much simpler to land a fish Cons: - The tone of the game is very childish, you may feel kind of silly playing this if you don't have children - You have less control of where you're fishing from, each location has a spot you fish from and there's no "trolling the boat" to a different area - The puzzles and mini games were just not fun for me - Graphics were sub par - There's no underwater interaction with the fish - The game just seems too easy I rented this game from GameFly, as I'm trying to find a second fishing game to purchase. I currently own Wii Hooked Real Motion Fishing, and even with the line break issues I still think it's the best option currently out. Average Rating:![]() |

Reel Fishing: Angler's DreamReviewsYou must play this game! I highly recommend it to everyone including people who hate or dislike fishing games. This is a highly realistic, fun, challenging and entertaining game! You'll feel like you are really right there fishing! This is the best game in the Reel Fishing Series. If you try it, you will love it! I have rated this 5 STARS FOR FUN but it is showing up. Its true this game was frustrating at first until I learned the things that were going wrong (with the exception of it freezing up one time) stopped happening as I moved through the different fishing locations. I have now made it to the end and have found all the legendary fish I have completed all goals. After I really started to learn this game it became fun and addicting. I found out if you use different poles (as you earn them) the fish act differently when reeling them in. The casting can still be a little frustrating it seems it isn't consistent you can do the same thing twice and get different results. I was having problems with the line drawing back in some instances before a fish had bitten because I had the bait on the bottom and when I moved the lure up everything seemed to work as it should. This is more like a true experience once you learn the fish and how to fight them. Yes I agree with another reviewer the landing can be a little anticlimactic but the fight with the fish is fun and all are different. I wish they had made more room in the aquariums I had to let one legendary fish go to house another. I found information in the booklet that came with it very helpful when I was stuck. If you are one of the people who also found this frustrating at first I would encourage you to try again it can be very fun. If you have problems I would say to you to email the manufacturer and maybe they can get some of the problems resolved for you. I have tried 4 different fishing games on the wii without a doubt this is the most fun of all I rate it number 1 for the wii. I also bought it on the WiiWare site. The graphics are ok for a beginner like myself but I have major troubles casting my line. Can anyone tell me how to cast? Do I need wii motion plus or something? I followed the directions and only seem to be able to cast my line maybe once out of every 10 tries. Help. Thanks This wa a gift for a neighbor. It appeared that he enjoyed it. He liked this better than a game that his wife bought for him that came with a wii fishing rod. Horrible game, bought off Wiiware. This game is boring and unrealistic. Not fun at all, Buyers stay away! Average Rating:![]() |

Nanook Of The NorthReviewsNanook of the North is an important piece of documentary film making on a number of levels, including its value as an ethnographic document. While the authenticity of events has long been questioned, as the various segments of Nanook's daily life were "traditionally" staged for the camera, it nonetheless does little to detract from the aesthetic qualities of the story, setting and the characters in this film. Despite it originally being presented by Flaherty as more fact than fiction, its value from a postmodern perspective might also be assessed from the performances of the Inuit actors, who undoubtedly played an important part in the manufacturing their own past. From just about every perspective, Nanook of the North is unmatched by other efforts in the early days of documentary film making, and remains a unique and intriguing work. A very interesting testimony to a way humankind made during the twentieth century on example of an Eskimo tribe of Northern America. The question remains whether descendants of doco characters are much happier than their fighting-a-nature forebears memorized. If you haven't ever seen this video..you are REALLY missing something. Nanook is an amazing man. I guess I have been talking about him all my life.."you look like Nanook of the North"..which meant you really looked cold. But when I got the video. I learned a new respect for this name and for what he stood for. A great documentary of the Inuit or Eskimo people as they were called by Robert Flaherty. He actually had to make it twice. The film used then was highly flammable and caught fire as he was editing it while smoking. People smoked anywhere they wanted in the 20s too! Flaherty suffered burns in many parts of his body and had to recover before going back north. He had made copious notes of his previous film and was able to recreate most scenes again. Not your typical documentary now, but was at this time. Filmmakers were quite aware of having to make the film entertaining and interesting to watch. Not unlike today! The 20s was the heyday of anthropology and of documentary film so they went together nicely. Flaherty has made a spine-tingling film where the cold can be felt as well as seen. The lives of Nanook and his people is interesting and stunning. If you have any interest in documentary filmmaking, indigenous film, ethnography, or a related field, you should absolutely see 'Nanook.' Having said that, I'm always shocked at how little context the average viewer has before they take this film in. Sure, maybe a first viewing of a film that sets so many precedents should be undertaken unprejudiced, but any meaningful understanding of this film can only take shape with some basic knowledge of the debates and discourses that surround it. The movie, as I'm sure many reviewers before me have explained, is ostensibly an ethnographic document of an Inuit hunter named Nanook's struggle to survive with his family in the area around Hudson Bay. The film documents a number of activities that, depending on your level of cynicism, either represent the Inuit lifestyle at a particular period in time, or are selected for their potential novelty to members of the film's eventual audience. Either before or after your first viewing of the film, know this: the wildly inaccurate intertitles aren't the most misleading thing about this film. Rather than be exhaustive about the film's inaccuracies, I'll let you seek out your own information. I will mention that by the time Flaherty was making this film, Inuit hunters were using rifles. Also, Nanook's family aren't exactly his family. They're really just the most photogenic Inuit that Flaherty could find to fill the roles. Flaherty argued that he was trying to document a set of Inuit cultural practices that were in danger of slipping into the ether. Whether this is entirely sincere or not, who knows. But beyond deciding whether or not you like the movie (which is a more basic and personal consideration), you need to know this so you can try to understand what Flaherty's getting at here and see the cinematic world he presents in its own, highly specialized and hybrid context. The film itself is a delightful watch. It continues to be entertaining, regardless of whether or not you're into silent film. Criterion's print looks fantastic and the music they've put it to is appropriate. That's all bonus, though, because the movie will always be the foundation upon which so much important work was built, so as soon as you know it exists and is relevant to your interest, you should watch it. Just be sure to dip into the discourse surrounding it at some point during the window of time when the film is occupying your thoughts. You'll see the film and its many, diverse successors more clearly for having done so. Average Rating:![]() |

Crude and primitive as the conditions under which it was made. This direct study of Eskimo life set the standard for and has remained the most famous of the early documentary films. The Walrus hunt scene is especially effective... |

Alaska Fishing: DVD & Ultimate Guide! Talachulitna River King Salmon Float Trip.ReviewsHokey; amateurish; low, low, low production values, etc., etc. But what a kick! All the info you need is right there, reality check about the 'quitos, rain, bears, lodge traffic, and all. It is clear the producer/anglers favor kings and they horse 'em hard to get 'em to jump for the camera, but they cover the river and the native fish. Although I'd go with fly gear for 'bows and grayling, these DVD's are excellent for the real world demonstration of what its like on river and how to fish it in real time. They can be a bit repetitious but that tends to be because they are shot sequentially as the float progresses-- fish kings at two creek mounths in succession and that's what you see. The only things missing are the adrenaline 'shakes' between hookups. Oh, and here's an old Eel River "bottom bouncing" trick; instead of cutting up pencil sinkers, pinch a string of split shot on a 6 lb. test dropper (or 1/2 test main line) and add or remove to depth desired; a snagged split shot pulls off dropper plus you don't end up with a pocket full of too short pencils. I have reviewed all four of the videos produced by the Duke Brothers and they are all top quality. They have enough detail to save a person many hours of research and go a long way to ensuring a successful trip. Coordinates are even provided indicating specific areas where the best fishing is to be found, campsites, and etc. These videos are designed to provide a great experience while avoiding unnecessary expense. The Duke bros. do a good job giving insights on what and where to plan for a guideless riverfloat. A bit too much of the Dukes horsing in kings and little on other species...also would have liked more info on preparation and riversmarts. Nevertheless, its the best of the available info out there and has much more low budget charm than self-promotion. I've purchased two DVDs and am happy with both. I have spent numerous hours researching information on Alaska fishing and have a small library of fishing books on Alaska rivers, but you won't find a better all in one source of detailed information than the Duke's Talachulitna video and dvd insert. These guys know how to catch kings like no one I have ever seen before. Even if I never get a chance to float the Tal River, I feel like I have been there. Looking forward to more Duke Outdoor videos - keep up the great work! Robert DeHaven - Georgia. This video opened my eyes to the reality that a "Do it yourself" Alaska fishing trip doesn't have to cost a fortune. From GPS coordinates to suggestions on proper fishing rig and techniques this video covers your potential trip from launch to take out. With tips from Jim and Russ Duke it will be almost impossible not to have your dream fishing trip become a reality. Fish on!!! Average Rating:![]() |

Top Techniques of a Walleye ProReviewsThis is a teaching video yet entertaining. I now know more about fishing for walleye than I ever did. Mike is someone you automatically feel comfortable with and would like to be along fishing with him. I would recommend it to anyone looking for advice on walleye fishing. Great video! If you are a Walleye fisherman and you want to try Planer Boards and other trolling techniques, I really think you'll like this DVD. Trolling crank baits, worm harnesses, and bottom bouncers with Planer boards are what this DVD is all about. It's not the when and where, but how to set-up and use different trolling techniques. This must have taken all of 2 hours to produce...a few "tips" on crankbaits and gadgets...nada on where, when, temp, or bottom rigs....save your money for beer and bait.....or try a different DVD...
