This box is NOT 3 x 3 x 4.5 More like 4 x 2.5 x 3.5 Look at it this way, at one end of the box, I can stand an individually wrapped Tea Bag on its end and the box is almost to short for it. It fits snug.

Whether you are new to fly casting or having problems casting this DVD is a must-have. It is very informative. Lefty is one of the best if not the best fly rod casters out there.

I actually met Lefty at a sportsman expo in California and he's a very funny and colorful guy. This was the DVD that Lefty personally recommended to me (a relatively new fly fisherman). I couldn't agree more. Lefty explains and shows the mechanics of properly casting with simple fluid motions. Prior to watching the DVD, I tended to fight the rod and line. With the DVD format it made it easy to repeat the sections I wanted to review and practice. With a little practice and Lefty's instruction, fly casting has become significantly more enjoyable and my distance and accuracy has improved dramatically. Highly recommended for novices or anyone who wanted to learn how to improve the quality of their casting.

A fly fisherman as famous as Lefty Kreh deserves to be featured in a great video, one that helps him share his knowledge and expertise with all of us who'd love to learn from him. Unfortunately, this DVD fails badly, but I don't blame Lefty. He's obviously an authentic expert who is chock full of great info that he'd really like to share. I blame the production company. After all, it's their job to represent the viewer's interests by making sure that the audio is clear, that every shot is properly framed, and that every statement is understandable, helpful, and relevant to the overall message. Unfortunately, they failed to do that, and as a result, I'm not sure I learned anything in return for the $30 I plunked down on this. For starters, Lefty talks fast, and since the director didn't pick up on this and ask him to slow down, it's almost impossible to absorb his point before he's rushed on to three or four others. Worse, the cinematography is amateurish. Too often the cameraman uses a wide shot while Lefty is talking about (and trying to illustrate) some subtle aspect of his grip, or he's talking about his line, but it can't be seen because it's completely out of the frame. But the biggest problem with this video is that it lacks a coherent, systematic, overall plan. Instead, it jumps from topic to topic with no apparent rhyme or reason, and there's not even a thorough discussion of a basic cast! Beginners should avoid this video, because it will leave them confused and frustrated. Try Joan Wulff's DVD, the Dynamics of Fly Casting, instead. It's great! Experienced anglers may learn a thing of two from this video (especially from Lefty's discussion of casting techniques for various "real world" situations). But they'd better be prepared to work hard, because it's tough to extract the info that Lefty's doing his best to share.

This is a fantastic video. I've watched it 3 times already, and my casting is significantly better than before. I've been fly fishing for 4 years, and this video did more to improve my casting than any time I've spent with a guide or at a clinic. It also costs much less than an hour with a guide. The techniques covered have improved all the fishing I do from trout and sunfish on my 4wt up to muskie on my 9wt. I get better presentation and better distance on all of my casts. I'm also more efficient so I can cast for a few more hours with the 9wt without getting tired. Lefty's presentation is very straightforward and clear. My wife even thought that the video was good enough to sit down and watch with me.

I got this dvd last month.Lefty and Bob are the go to men in fly fishing and tying. I have been tying for about 45 years myself and learned a few tips about tying. As I was watching the dvd I would look in the background and noticed all the materials they had. I thought I had a room full. I learned the right way to tie the Clouser flies.This is great for the beginner, they go thru a pattern step by step. This is one fantastic DVD I recommend it highly.

I am retired an decided that I wanted to learn how to tie flies. I bought a couple of books and read them. Since I live in a remote area with no other fly tyers near me that I know of, I thought that it would be useful to buy a video so that I could actually watch an experienced fltyer at work. Well, this video was a real disappointment. It does show some basic techniques and useful tips. It also shows how to tie two specific types of flies - Lefty's Deceiver and the Clouser Minnow. However, in general it presents the information in a VERY disorganized and incomplete manner. I also felt that the video itself was way too short. It's really too bad, because the fly tyers in the video are obviously knowledgeable and very experienced. I really expected much more from this video than I got. It wasn't a complete waste of money, but it could have been so much better.

Recorded after the group decided to go separate ways in 1971/2 after years of recordings and concert tours, the "Solo Recordings" gave an opportunity for Peter, Paul (Noel) and Mary to explore their individuality and they have done brilliantly in this three CD set. Some great songs ("Mary Beth" and "Greenwood") by Peter, the hugely successful "Wedding SOng" by Paul and Mary's "Rhymes and Reasons" and "Follow me" being just a few. The albums show the singers could hold their own as solo performers, as well as being such a brilliant folk trio!

This is a great CD. But B&N still has it for $30, online and in the store. (got it 10/12/09. Nice to hear P,P&M separately. Well worth adding to collections.

As of 6-October-2009, this title can be ordered on Barnes & Noble's website for about $25.50. I am very much looking forward to receiving this exciting release and will honor Mary Travers' memory by enjoying her solo work.

Of all the Peter, Paul and Mary music I have (every cd and previously ever LP), I was most saddened when my last record player broke and I gave away my solo albums of Peter Yarrow and Mary Travers because they were my very favorite records. My intention was to rebuy them on cd when they came out on cd. But they never came out on cd, and I've regretted for years never being able to listen to my favorite solos by them. Therefore this set of cds is a real find - and their music sounds even better on the cds than they did on records. No Peter Paul and Mary fan should be without them. These cds are a special and limited edition produced by Barnes and Noble. Last night I contacted 21 Barnes and Noble stores within 2 hours of where I live and only ONE had any left -- and just ONE. They checked for me and told me that they could not order more because there are no more - they are sold out throughout New England (and most of the rest of the U.S.) and there are no plans to produce more. If any B&N's still have them, they are few and far between. I drove 3 hours today in order to get the only one I could find. And it was worth it! How much we will miss Mary Travers.......and the three of them singing together. In the folk music world, they have no equals. My only criticism of this cd set is that my two favorite PP&M solo numbers are not on them - Mary Travers' It's In Everyone Of Us, and Peter Yarrow's haunting Wrong Rainbow. One has to buy the old LPs for them --- but meanwhile the songs on the solo cd set will fill your heart and feed your soul.

This title is a Barnes & Noble exclusive. Whether that was the smartest thing for Rhino to do, I'm not sure. All three of these albums are great. So if you want to avoid grossly inflated prices, I suggest you head down to your "local Barnes & Noble" (is that phrase even allowed?) and pick one up for the MSRP of $29.99. The BN website no longer has the title online, so you actually have to go to a store. A bit archaic, and a slight inconvenience, but think of the savings. Let me clearly state that I do not work for BN, I have no connection with them whatsoever, and I am the last person to ever suggest that someone should patronize a corporate chain. But the logic of a seller pricing a still readily available title at 10 times the list price is completely and utterly baffling. This title was released in November 2008 and is not yet out of print. Know that for the foreseeable future, you have a convenient option to purchase this title for its standard list price. Hope you find this helpful. P.S. Since I posted this review, the title has again become available at the Barnes & Noble website for $25.49. No need to pay $70 to $100--at least not yet.
