This reel and rod combo worked excellent. The reel is as smooth as you could possibly get. I have other spinning reels that cost three times as much as I gave for this combo that don't handle as well as the Quantam. For the price this combination cannot be beaten. I highly recommend that you had better get you one before they sell out. Another thing I might add wal-mart can't beat this price, the reel alone cost more than the rod and reel together.
